The Inn, was named after the Loggerhead Sea Turtles that come to the Island every year to nest. If you time your visit right, you might see loggerhead tracks leading to a nest on the dunes or newly hatched loggerheads scrambling back to the Atlantic !
(BUT PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB). Additionally, the town requires all beachgoers that dig or build in the sand, to cover or smoothe over those areas before departing (PLEASE, PLEASE fill in your holes). Our unspoiled beach city also enforces stiff fines for encroaching on the fragile dunes.
The balance of the turtles existence depends on unspoiled nests and clear paths to them.
You can always visit the wonderful people at the turtle hospital, located on the south end of the Island in Topsail Beach.
